Livestock is an important part of farming in Burundi and forms an additional source of revenue for many who rely on agriculture for an income. Greenco started at Nemba station in 2017 with the distribution of goats to a farming group who directly
work with the station. The aim is to train these farmers to breed, manage and distribute the livestock so as to benefit the farming community as a whole in the long term. Greenco aims to expand the project to its 12 remaining stations and distribute pigs as well as goats.
