Brewing Impact: OZO Coffee's 2025 Year in Review

At OZO Coffee Roasters, our mission has always been clear: to support and connect diverse communities through coffee. In 2025, we advanced this vision by investing ethically in our supply chain, deepening relationships with producers, contributing to community-led initiatives, and fostering a more sustainable and inclusive coffee culture within our cafes and beyond.

Here's a look at how we put our values into action this year.

Strengthening Roots: Farm Visits and Producer Partnerships

Chirinos, Peru

2025 marked a pivotal year in strengthening our global sourcing network. We had the opportunity to visit La Prosperidad de Chirinos cooperative in Peru, a long-standing partner since 2018. This cooperative of 810 producers works collaboratively to produce exceptional quality coffee that forms the foundation of many OZO blends.

Walking the farms, cupping with producers, and witnessing their dedication firsthand reminds us why relationship coffee matters. These aren't just transactions—they're partnerships built on mutual respect and shared values.

Huehuetenango, Guatemala

We attended Guatemala's Annual CODECH competition alongside Atlas Coffee Importers, an event that strengthens producer networks and creates vital selling opportunities for cooperative members. We're thrilled to have secured several outstanding coffees, including the second-place winner from Maria Romalda—a producer we've proudly supported for over 10 years.

For nearly two decades, OZO has partnered with CODECH (Coordinadora de Organizaciones de Desarrollo de Concepción Huista), a cooperative of over 450 producers in the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes Mountains. These relationships aren't just good for business—they're essential to creating a more equitable coffee industry.

Celebrating Women in Coffee: Rwanda Sholi Project

In honor of International Women's Day, we partnered with the Sholi Women's Cooperative in the Muhanga district of Rwanda. On March 8th, 100% of proceeds from our Rwanda Sholi Women's Lot were donated back to the co-op.

The funds, totaling $2,007.21, were designated to help improve their beekeeping initiative—a program aimed at diversifying income and creating new opportunities within the community. We're proud to report that the investment resulted in a 265% increase in honey output, helping these women farmers build more resilient livelihoods.

Sustainability in Action: Reusable Solutions

Our commitment to reducing waste took several concrete forms in 2025:

Own Cup Program

We saved over 42,250 disposable cups from ending up in landfills through our own cup program, reducing roughly 1,800 lbs of waste. We love it when you bring your own cup!

GaeaStar Clay Cups

We sold 2,543 GaeaStar clay cups as part of our effort to reduce single-use waste. These beautiful, functional cups are made from earth and return to earth—circular design at its best.

Airscape Canister Refills

We tracked more than 14,877 Airscape canister refills across our locations, saving roughly 595 pounds of packaging from the landfill.

House-Made Nut Milk

Our house-made cashew-almond milk, crafted in-house with simple ingredients, prevented over 3,300 cartons from entering landfills and reduced freight by 6,400 lbs. Plus, it's delicious in your latte.

Brute Containers

We distributed 1,294 reusable Brute containers to our cafes, replacing over 6,000 five-pound single-use bags and reducing 700 lbs of waste.

Every small change adds up. These initiatives prove that sustainability doesn't have to be complicated—it just takes intention and commitment.

Supporting Our Local Community

Supporting our local communities is embedded in our ethos. In 2025, we contributed more than $15,000 in donations to over 100 local organizations.

Organizations we supported included: Our Center (Longmont), EFAA, SPAN, Community Food Share, Buff Pantry, Rise Against Suicide, Bridge House, Voices for Children (CASA of Boulder County), Museum of Boulder, KGNU Community Radio, Future Arts Foundation, Anchor Center for the Blind, BVSD, SVUSD, Conference on World Affairs, TEDxCU, and many more.

We believe that strong communities are built on mutual support, and we're honored to play a small part in strengthening the fabric of Boulder County and beyond.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As we move into 2026, our focus remains clear: to build resilient partnerships, expand our sustainable practices, and continue making a meaningful impact within our community and throughout our supply chain.

The work is ongoing, and the opportunity to lead with care, curiosity, and integrity continues to drive us forward.

Thank you to our staff, customers, producers, and partners who made all our accomplishments in 2025 possible. This year, let's go even bigger together.
