Embark on a Flavorful Journey with Burundi Kibingo Natural Processed Coffee

Nestled in the picturesque commune of Kayanza in northern Burundi sits the esteemed Kibingo washing station, perched at an altitude of 1,893 meters above sea level. This renowned station serves as the beating heart of Burundi's coffee production, drawing from the lush hillsides of neighboring farms ranging from 1,700 to 1,900 meters above sea level.

Home to 3,515 dedicated coffee growers spread across 18 hills, Kibingo is more than just a processing facility; it's a community hub fostering collaboration and growth. Every producer registered at Greenco’s owned Kibingo washing station is part of a cohesive group led by a farm leader, ensuring seamless communication and organization throughout the harvesting season.

Equipped with 10 fermentation tanks, 2 soaking tanks, and an expansive drying field boasting 4 pre-drying tables and 165 drying tables, Kibingo has the capacity to process a staggering 750,000 kg of cherry per season. But beyond its impressive infrastructure, Kibingo is committed to sustainability, offering farmers access to organic fertilizer derived from composted coffee pulp and subsidized coffee seedlings to promote farm renovation.

The dedication to quality extends beyond cultivation to post-harvest processing, where rigorous quality assurance measures are implemented. Selectively handpicked cherries undergo meticulous sorting and inspection before being carefully laid out to dry for 3 to 4 weeks. The result? Only the highest quality beans make it through the stringent quality control process, ensuring a superior cup profile that captivates coffee enthusiasts worldwide.

At the heart of Burundi's coffee industry lies Greenco, a pioneering company dedicated to elevating the country's coffee production standards. Through a network of 13 washing stations in Kayanza province, Greenco provides invaluable support to over 15,210 coffee-producing households, empowering farmers and fostering economic growth.

But Greenco's impact extends beyond the coffee fields; it's about empowering communities and creating sustainable livelihoods. By providing comprehensive training programs, offering career opportunities to young agronomy graduates, and promoting environmental stewardship through initiatives like water treatment facilities and solar panels, Greenco is paving the way for a brighter future for Burundi's coffee industry.

Burundi's coffee may have been overlooked in the past, but its rise in the specialty coffee scene is undeniable. With its exceptional quality and commitment to excellence, Burundi Kibingo Natural Processed coffee is not just a beverage; it's a testament to the resilience, craftsmanship, and passion of Burundi's coffee producers.
