Introducing Two Exceptional Coffees from Luis Alberto Balladarez

We’re thrilled to kick off the release of four incredible Nicaraguan coffees this year, all produced by the legendary Luis Alberto Balladarez. These coffees come from Nueva Segovia, a region renowned for its ideal coffee-growing conditions. At an impressive 1,800 meters above sea level, the altitude and biodiversity of Luis’s farms create the perfect environment for cultivating complex, high-quality coffees. Both offerings come from different plots of Luis’s farms, showcasing the unique expression of their respective single varietals. Today, we’re excited to share a washed Bourbon from Un Regalo de Dios and a natural-processed Pacamara from La Bendición—two extraordinary coffees that highlight Luis’s artistry and dedication.

Washed Bourbon from Un Regalo de Dios (URDD)

This washed Bourbon is an elegant and welcoming cup with notes of caramel apple, citrus, pear-like acidity, and a rich sweetness of brown sugar, toasted nuts, and vanilla. Its balance and approachability make it a perfect all-day coffee. Luis Alberto’s dedication to sustainable farming is evident in every aspect of this coffee. His innovative practices—such as planting guava trees for shade—enhance soil health and biodiversity, resulting in vibrant, terroir-driven flavors. At Beneficio Las Segovias, each picking is meticulously processed to maintain the highest quality, ensuring a cup that reflects his unwavering commitment to excellence. 



Natural-Processed Pacamara from La Bendición

After a four-year hiatus, we’re thrilled to welcome back this fan-favorite natural-processed Pacamara from La Bendición. Known for its rich body and fruit-forward profile, this coffee offers a vibrant burst of sweet raspberry, complemented by notes of vanilla and chocolate. Luis Alberto’s expertise in natural processing brings out the unique characteristics of the Pacamara varietal, creating a coffee that is dynamic, complex, and deeply satisfying. With every step handled with precision, from harvest to drying, this coffee is a true testament to Luis’s reputation as one of Nicaragua’s most esteemed producers.
