New Release | Tanzania Iloma

An AMCOS (Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society) is a small local cooperative society that provides for the local purchase of agricultural input supplies and helps farmers market their crops. In Tanzania, AMCOS provide farmers with essential local services that are often lacking in most areas. This includes seeds, fertilizer, storage facilities, and more. Each AMCOS is member-run, ensuring that the needs of the farmers are met. Iloma AMCOS was founded in 2011 by the Iyela Farmer Group. The name "Iloma" comes from the two main villages where the farmers live: Mufaumbo and Illomba. The cooperative's water comes from the Vidawa River, located 5 km away and fed by gravity pipes. Rashid Shikombola, the respected chairman and businessman of the village, leads Iloma AMCOS. With the cooperative, he rents trucks to other nearby groups and has helped provide electricity to the village. City Mills, a dry mill owned by Neumann Kaffee Gruppe, has started a coffee club at Msankwi, a local secondary school. Students there receive seedlings and meet regularly to learn about agricultural practices. In 2020, Iloma AMCOS began processing natural coffees in addition to their fully-washed lots. This year, OZO Coffee acquired a portion of one of these limited natural lots. It packs quite the array of flavor with intense notes of fruit punch and sweet florals, and is sure to be enjoyed as a Special Release summer offering!
