OZO Cold Brew: A New Year, A Fresh Blend

Reintroducing OZO Cold Brew for the New Year

It’s a new year, and Ozo is happy to reintroduce our canned cold brew to the community (in the peak of winter, no less)! We formulated a medium-light roast blend of four coffees to create a chocolatey-bordering-on-fudgy, subtly hinting at black cherry, nitro-topped beverage.

The Blend: Four Carefully Selected Coffees

Uganda Endele (Natural Processed)

The dominant coffee in the blend is a naturally processed Uganda Endele, intended to deliver a syrupy body and rich sweetness to the can.

Honduras Capucas (Washed Processed)

Next is our washed Honduras Capucas, a coffee critical to many of our mainstay blends, but more importantly, a coffee grown by our friends at our longest-lasting partnership, the COCAFCAL Cooperative.

Guatemala CODECH (Washed Processed)

We’ve also included another annual offering, a washed processed coffee grown by Maria Romalda at the Guatemalan cooperative of CODECH. Maria’s coffee adds some deep nougaty sweetness with hints of dark berries and was a top-ten finisher at the 2024 co-op competition.

Ethiopia Guji Ardi (Natural Processed)

The cold brew blend is topped off with Ardi, a staff favorite and natural processed coffee from the Guji region of Ethiopia. Ardi brings a little acidity to the brew, and in tandem with the Uganda, adds to the dark fruit notes if you’re looking for them.

We’re delighted with the blend and how it appeals to the palate of all coffee enjoyers:

  • For the Adventurous: If you’re hoping for a more playful fruity beverage, you’ll be pleasantly surprised amidst the milk chocolate.

Strength and Nitro Finish

In terms of strength, we landed on a TDS (total dissolved solids) of 1.6%. As a reference point, if you’ve had our in-house cold brew straight from the tap, it’s about the same strength. It still has room to dilute over ice, and straight out of the can, you’ll get that syrupy cold brew experience. Shake it up to maximize the head from the nitro.

Improved Quality and Shelf Life

With this new blend, we’ve also partnered with a new manufacturer to offer a more consistent and longer-lasting product. Historically, our ready-to-drink offering was canned without any pasteurization or sterilization. Our new RTD is produced at an FDA-registered facility and is made shelf-stable through retort processing for 12 months.
