Third Year Featuring Gaspar Pérez Cardona’s Coffee

For the third year in a row, we are pleased to announce the return of Gaspar Pérez Cardona's microlot to the lineup. This coffee is another beautiful taste of Huehuetenango from the ADIPY association of CODECH in Concepción Huista. Gaspar's farm is found at about 1,600 meters above sea level, where he grows caturra, bourbon, catimor, and pache verde varietals. Our green buyer had the opportunity to visit his farm in 2024, and we can't wait to go back!

The CODECH Coffee Competition in Huehuetenango

Like our previous featured producer from Guatemala, María Romalda, Gaspar also competed in the 2025 CODECH competition. This is an annual competition where some of the 450+ producer members of Coordinadora de Organizaciones de Desarrollo de Concepción Huista (CODECH) come together to submit their coffee for evaluation by a panel of cuppers. After three days of judging, the top 10 producers are awarded premiums, directly recognizing their dedication and craftsmanship.

We have had the privilege of being a part of this competition for many years, and this year's panel included two cuppers from OZO's very own cupping team.

Flavor Profile: Apple, Red Grape, and Chocolate

This is a washed lot that showcases many of the classic flavors of Huehuetenango—rich sweetness, full body, and bright malic acidity that highlight flavors of apple, red grape, and chocolate.
