Guatemala Agusto López: A Washed Caturra & Bourbon Microlot from CODECH
Guatemala Agusto López
Our Second Huehuetenango Microlot of the Season
Our second Guatemalan microlot of the season comes to us once again from Huehuetenango. Our partnership continues to grow with the Coordinadora de Organizaciones de Desarrollo de Concepción Huista (CODECH), a cooperative made up of over 450 producer members situated in the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes of Huehuetenango. We are so proud to be continuing this partnership for yet another year and to continue highlighting some of their most outstanding producers.
We first became acquainted with his coffee after he participated in the 2025 CODECH competition and his lot really stood out to our team, and we were just as excited to taste it at the 2026 competition again earlier this year! At this competition, members of the cooperative have the opportunity to submit their coffee for evaluation by a panel of cuppers. After three days of judging, the top 10 producers are awarded premiums, directly recognizing their dedication and craftsmanship. We have had the privilege of being a part of this competition for many years, and this year's panel included two cuppers from OZO's very own cupping team.
Agusto López, Huehuetenango
During the judging, we instantly recognized Agusto's coffee as being something special - a well-structured coffee with sweet black cherry up front and sweet and spicy ginger and panela finishing out a perfectly balanced cup.
This is our second year working with Agusto López, and we are very pleased to welcome his coffee back to the lineup. His farm, La Esperanza 2, is at about 1,700 meters above sea level where he grows Bourbon and Caturra.

Back for the second year in a row, Agusto López's microlot is a decadent experience with sweet and spicy notes of gingersnap, panela, and black cherry.
