Guatemala Andrés Recinos Pérez: A Washed Caturra, Bourbon, Anacafé 14 & Catimor Microlot from CODECH
Guatemala Andrés Recinos Pérez
A Competition-Winning Lot from Our Longtime Partners at CODECH
Featuring this coffee from producer Andrés Recinos Pérez is a particular honor for OZO Coffee this year. For close to two decades we have been partnered with the Coordinadora de Organizaciones de Desarrollo de Concepción Huista (CODECH), a cooperative made up of over 450 producer members situated in the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes of Huehuetenango. The coffees we source here are a significant component in many of our beloved blends, in addition to the amazing microlots we have the opportunity to share from this group.
As part of our relationship, we visit CODECH every spring to meet with our producer partners and taste the amazing coffees growing in the area. Every year, the group hosts an internal competition at the CODECH headquarters in Concepción Huista, where members of the cooperative have the opportunity to submit their coffee for evaluation by a panel of cuppers. After three days of judging, the top 10 producers are awarded premiums, directly recognizing their dedication and craftsmanship. We have had the privilege of being a part of this competition for many years, and this year's panel included two cuppers from OZO's very own team.
Andrés Recinos Pérez, Concepción Huista
This year, the lot from Andrés Recinos Pérez stood out with the highest score across the board, and the CODECH team was pleased to present him with the first place premium for his work. In addition to winning this year's CODECH competition, Andrés has gone on to earn recognition as a finalist in the Single Origin Filter category of the 2026 Global Coffee Awards, which is by far the most competitive subcategory in the competition. We at OZO are so proud of the great work he has done and of all his accomplishments, and are so excited to have the opportunity to share this OZO-exclusive coffee with you.
This year's coffee is a blend of Caturra, Bourbon, Anacafé 14, and Catimor varieties, grown at about 1,800 meters above sea level in Concepción Huista. This is such a unique and vibrant example of traditional Guatemalan processing, with effervescent notes of ginger, rose florals, and juicy watermelon sweetness, and we couldn't be more excited to share it with you.
