Welcoming Agusto López: Our Final Guatemalan Microlot of the Season

Our final Guatemalan microlot of the season comes to us once again from CODECH in Huehuetenango. For close to two decades, OZO has partnered with the Coordinadora de Organizaciones de Desarrollo de Concepción Huista (CODECH), a cooperative made up of over 450 producer members situated in the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes of Huehuetenango. We are so proud to be continuing this partnership for yet another year and to continue highlighting some of their most outstanding producers.

Spotlight on Agusto López

Agusto López was a participant in this year's annual competition at CODECH headquarters, and his microlot stood out to us right away. At this competition, members of the cooperative have the opportunity to submit their coffee for evaluation by a panel of cuppers. After three days of judging, the top 10 producers are awarded premiums, directly recognizing their dedication and craftsmanship.

OZO at the CODECH Competition

We have had the privilege of being a part of this competition for many years, and this year's panel included two cuppers from OZO's very own cupping team. During the judging, we instantly recognized Agusto's coffee as being something special — a well-structured coffee with sweet black cherry up front and sweet and spicy ginger and panela finishing out a perfectly balanced cup.

Welcoming Agusto’s Coffee to Our Lineup

This is our first year working with Agusto López and we are very pleased to welcome his coffee to the lineup. His farm, La Esperanza 2, is at about 1,700 meters above sea level where he grows multiple varietals, including Catuai and Caturra.
