Our First Peru Microlot of the Season
It is finally time to announce our first microlot from Peru for the season! This year we are proud to be featuring some exceptional coffees from one of our longstanding partners in Cajamarca, Peru. This microlot was produced by Clemente Guerrero Choquehuanca, a member of La Prosperidad de Chirinos. Situated in the San Ignacio province of Cajamarca, Chirinos is a cooperative made up of over 800 producer members with a commitment to working together as a community to produce the highest-quality coffee possible.
A Longstanding Partnership with Chirinos
We first visited La Prosperidad de Chirinos in 2018 and have maintained a close relationship with them ever since. Their consistently high-quality macrolots are essential components in many of our blends, and we're so excited to bring this beautiful single-producer offering into the lineup. Clemente Guerrero Choquehuanca has been a member of La Prosperidad de Chirinos since 2013. His farm in Caserío El Laurel is made up of four plots where he is producing some truly lovely coffees: El Romerillo, La Naranja, El Cedro, and El Barejon. This year, when our team paid their annual visit to the cooperative, we cupped Clemente's coffee for the very first time and we were thrilled to find a place for it in our lineup.
The Coffee: Washed Single-Variety Caturra
This microlot is a single variety washed Caturra lot with a sweet and earthy profile reminiscent of chamomile tea, paired with a bright tangerine acidity. This is the first of four microlots we had the opportunity to secure from Chirinos for the season, so be sure to check back soon for even more flavors of Peru!
